Frequently Asked Questions
Why AP with Mr. G?
I firmly believe that by studying the past, we can identify patterns and lessons that can guide us as we shape our future. I spend time every day reading history books and I am constantly thinking how the lessons of our past can help younger learners prepare for the future in a way that is compelling, thought-provoking, and meaningful. In this course, I have attempted to bring the content to life while ensuring that your student is exposed to the information they need to move forward in their educational experience.
Why is the AP US History (APUSH) exam so difficult?
Many students consider this exam challenging both because of the amount of content on the exam as well as the different skills students are supposed to demonstrate on the exam. Students are expected to read, write, compare, identify causation, and continuity and change over various themes. For many students, this can be a challenge. In this course, I break down these skills using the content and then demonstrate how to be successful on the exam with sample questions from past year’s exams. All of this is designed to help students with the most difficult parts of the exam.
Why take an AP History Course?
Taking an AP course, and passing it, demonstrates to a college that you are capable of mastering both the breadth and the seriousness of the content you will experience in college. In short, it shows the college that you are ready for college. Most students fail the AP US History exam so most students cannot demonstrate that readiness to the college they want to attend. By taking this course, and passing the test, you will position yourself ahead of the other students applying for admission to the same college you’re applying to.
How long is the duration of the course?
This course is self-paced. I believe the learning should be jam-packed and immersive so I recommend anywhere from 6-10 weeks to work through the entire course with 4 weeks allocated to content and quizzes and then 2-4 weeks of studying.

What if I need assistance with technology?
Besides the PowerPoint and videos, what evaluative tools are there to measure success?
This course has PowerPoints which are stored as PDF along with videos walking you through each one. Each of the ten units has quizzes, short-answer examples with explanations, Long Essay Questions (LEQs), and the key concepts from CollegeBoard. There are three exams; one on units 1-5, one on units 6-10, and one comprehensive exam. These are designed to test your knowledge and, more importantly, point out areas for growth. In short, you will have so much practice as you work through this course that the actual exam should feel very familiar and comfortable for you.
